Two for the Money is a movie inspired by the true story of Brandon Lang. A former college quarterback who became one of the most popular and successful sports handicappers in America.
Lang played by (Matthew McConaughey) after breaking his leg during a key college football game ends up in the boiler room telesales business while he tries to resussitate his football career. By accident he falls into the world of 900 number pay for sports picks, and quickly finds he has a knack for picking winners in college and professional football. His success quickly draws the attention of Walter Abrams (Al Pacino) who runs one of the largest sports advisor services in New York and quickly decides to move Lang to New York and add him to his team of successful sports advisors.
After meeting Lang, Walter quickly decides to re-invent Brandon into T.V personality John Anthony, the slickest and most successful sports handicapper of all time. Walter begins building a empire around his new recruit and John Anthony delivers bringing in some of the biggest customers, including Mr. Novian (Armand Assante) the biggest sports bettor in the world. Things are so great Walter begins to double down on Lang’s success, but things get very complicated when Brandon’s intuition begins to run cold.
