Well after week eight, the NFL season will be officially half over which seems like the weeks are rolling by insanely fast:( Anyhow, its always great to check in on how the futures odds sportsbooks offered at the beginning of the year fair to how teams and players are doing now.
Green Bay Packers to go 16-0?
One bet that could be a huge boon to online sports bettors is the regular season special bet that was offered on the Green Bay Packers to go 16-0. Obviously this isn't something that happens often but the Packers look like a well oiled machine that can run over any team in the NFL, not too mention the ones listed on their incredibly easy schedule this season. Odds at the beginning of they year were listed at 81.00 and now you can look around and the same bet is only paying around 10.00 some books even have the odds listed for an absolute perfect season of 19-0 paying 7.00! Even after they wiped out New Orleans in the first week of they year, also toughest game of their schedule you could still get odds in the 60-70 range. It definitely pays to throw out some educated futures bets at the beginning of the year. Even $20 could pay out over $1600 on this one. Odds from Bet365 Sportsbook
Individual Player Futures
Usually bookmakers are fairly accurate when it comes to predicting player futures outcomes. For instance the Running Back rushing leader odds are pretty close. Adrian Peterson currently leads running backs and was a #2 favorite next to Arian Foster. Although if some of these running backs can catch him there would be some nice payouts. Matt Forte, the current #2 rushing leader would pay over 35.00 and McFadden who is within 100 yards of the lead would pay 21.00 This one is still to close to call and will probably come down to the last game of the season.
Another popular futures market is the QB Passing Yards. Drew Breese, Tom Brady and Philip Rivers were the top three sportsbook favorites at the beginning of the year and currently Breese is the NFL passing leader. Followed by Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and the big surprise rookie Cam Newton, which definitely puts him in a great spot to win the Rookie of the Year bet paying 7.50. Odds from William Hill
Over Under Team Season Wins
Like last year some surprises in this category. Pinnacle Sports posted over under wins for Detroit at 7.5 and Buffalo at 5.0 Its fair to say both of these teams will crush the over on both of these futures. The Colts are another big under performer in this category. At the beginning of the season sportsbooks posted an over under win total of 10.00 That bet is already a loser.
Over all NFL futures are a great bet to take advantag of. Even small wagers on teams you may have a hunch on can pay off big time. Good Luck.
