Many people in the boxing community and betting fans would have expected Manny Pacquiao's next fight would have been to get his title back from Timothy Bradley. But instead, it seems Pacquiao is looking to reassert himself with a definitive win over his biggest rival, Juan Mannuel Marquez. Marquez and Pacquiao have fought four times and every fight has been riddled with controversy over scoring and split decisions.
After watching the latest HBO 24/7 Pacquiao Martinez 4 series, you get the sense Pacquiao feels he has something to prove. In his last fight, many boxing fans felt he coasted his way to a loss by easing up on Bradley in the last few rounds. Fans also feel Pacquiao's commitment to hard training and conditioning, has come second to new religious beliefs and political responsibilities in the Philippines. But watching the 24/7 It appears the Bradley loss may have grounded Pacquiao and helped long time trainer Freddie Roach focus his fighter.
Sportsbooks seem to think Pacquiao should win this fight convincingly. After all Marquez is 39 years old, and he has lost twice to Pacquiao in the last four years. Marquez is still one of the greats and has a fight record of 54-6-1. Marquez a huge underdog and probably wont win, but he has come close, some say he won all three fights. With odds over 3.00 you almost have to take a chance.
